    Challenge: Upgrading Broadcast Quality Within a Tight Budget A regional sports network, covering minor league baseball and high school football, faced a familiar challenge: their audience demanded a modern, high-definition viewing experience, but their existing fixed-camera setup was dated and lacked flexibility. To cover all the action on a field, they required multiple camera angles—end zones, baselines, and tight follow shots—which was impossible without a larger crew and expensive robotic camera systems. They needed an affordable, high-performance solution that could deliver broadcast-quality 4K video with the agility to capture fast-moving plays. Solution: Deploying WinSafe’s UHV-450H-NDI-A PTZ Cameras After evaluating several options, the network chose the WinSafe CCTV UHV-450H-NDI-A, a professional 4K 60fps PTZ camera with 30x optical zoom. They deployed four units, placing two at elevated positions along the baselines and two in the end zones. The key features that drove their decision included: · True 4K at 60fps: The Sony 1/1.8-inch sensor and 4K60 output ensured every fast pitch and touchdown was captured with crisp, lifelike detail and smooth motion, free from the blur common in lower frame rates. · 30x Optical Zoom: This allowed a single camera to capture a wide view of the entire infield and instantly zoom in for a tight close-up of a batter's reaction or a sideline catch, all without moving a human cameraperson. · Seamless IP Workflow: The cameras’ native NDI®|HX integration was critical. Using standard network infrastructure (PoE+), the production team ran a single Cat6 cable to each camera for power, 4K video, and remote control. This drastically reduced setup time and cabling costs compared to traditional SDI runs. · Precision Remote Control: Using the VISCA over IP protocol, a single production director could control all four cameras from a central switcher, calling up 128 preset positions (e.g., "home plate," "first base," "goal line") with 0.1° accuracy. The smooth, quiet PTZ motors allowed for real-time tracking of plays without distracting on-field audio. Results: Enhanced Production Value and Cost Efficiency After one season of use, the network reported significant improvements: 1. Richer Broadcasts: The director could now cut between 4K close-up shots from multiple angles, creating a dynamic viewing experience previously only possible with a much larger crew.
